Sindh Dairy Product is a food processing enterprise located in Chuchot Gongma, a village group located in Leh, Ladakh. Established in August 2016 by Mr. Zakir Hussain (47), the enterprise is engaged in the processing of Dairy-based products like Curd & Cottage Cheese.
Mr. Hussain wanted to upgrade his enterprise in order to meet the increasing market demand for the products. He came to know about the PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme through his friend. After applying under the PMFME Scheme, he received a bank loan (Jammu & Kashmir Bank Limited) of Rs.33,44,369.13. With the loan amount, he purchased a Generator and is in the process of purchasing a Double Track Curd Cup Pouch Filling Machine, a Normal Single Head Milk Pouch Filling Machine, a 30 KVA Dg Set, an Air Compressor and a Milk Pasteurization Machine.
After the installation of the machinery, the per day production capacity of the enterprise increased from 3000 cups/day to 5000 cups/day. The increase witnessed in the production capacity also resulted in an increment in the daily profit generation of the enterprise from Rs.66,000 to Rs.1,10,000 (approx.).
The products are being marketed via Chospa (retail store) and small retail outlets in Leh & Kargil. The financial turnover of Sindh Dairy Product for FY 2021-22 was approximately Rs.80,00,000.
