Ruby Fresh Snacks is a food processing enterprise located in Ernakulam, Kerala. The enterprise was established by Mr. P M Jaleel (58) in March 2011. He started the enterprise on a small scale and began with the processing of Groundnut-based products like Laddoos. The positive response from the market motivated him to scale up the production. In order to meet the increasing market demand, he wanted to purchase additional machinery but lacked financial capital.

This was the period when he came to know about the credit-linked subsidy support provided to micro food processing enterprises under the PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme. He applied under the PMFME Scheme and received a bank loan of Rs. 3,06,000 in December 2021. With the amount, he purchased a Ribbon Coding Machine, a Coconut Scrapper, an LPG Stove, a Fire Wood Roaster (25 kg), a Disc Mill Pulveriser and an A3 Hp Single Phase Motor.

The machinery purchased by Mr. Jaleel has given his enterprise a major boost and doubled the per day production capacity of the enterprise from 6,000 units to 12,000 units. From generating a per day profit between Rs.8,000 to Rs.12,000, the enterprise is now able to generate a daily profit between Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000. The PMFME Scheme has enabled the entrepreneur to develop more products like Roasted Rice Powder Balls and Sweet Samosas.

The products are being marketed via local retail stores in Ernakulam and Mr. Jaleel hopes to market the products across the Country. He aspires to purchase more equipment to further expand the operations of the enterprise and hire additional manpower. The financial turnover of Ruby Fresh Snacks for FY 2021-22 was Rs. 32,10,000.
