Nalasem Bee Farm is located in Kharang village, East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya. Established in March 2018 by Mr. Khlainhiwot Lamare (43), the enterprise is engaged in Honey processing.
As the market demand for the products increased, Mr. Khlainhiwot Lamare felt the need to upgrade his enterprise and purchase additional machinery. He came to know about the PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme during his visit to the District Horticulture Office, Shillong. After applying under the PMFME Scheme, he received a bank loan (Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank) of Rs.2,11,356. With the loan amount, he purchased a Honey Processing Plant.
After the installation of the machinery, the per day production capacity of the enterprise increased from 10kg to 25kg during the harvesting period. During the same period, the daily profit generation of the enterprise increased from Rs.5,000 to Rs.12,500.
The products are being marketed via local stores, retail outlets and wholesale in East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya and the entrepreneur plans to market the products to other states like West Bengal. The enterprise is also marketing the products through social media platforms. The financial turnover of Nalasem Bee Farm for FY 2021-22 was Rs.74,200.
