Bhavya Masala Unit is a food processing enterprise located in Rajgarh, a village in Chittaurgarh, Rajasthan. The enterprise was established by Ms. Nikku Kanwar (32). Prior to starting the enterprise, she was a member of Har-Har Mahadev Self Help Group which was engaged in the processing of products like Chilli Powder, Coriander Powder, Turmeric Powder, etc. In order to streamline and formalize the activities of the SHG, she founded Bhavya Masala Unit in March 2019.
Over the period, Ms. Kanwar was searching for avenues where she could seek financial support in order to meet the working capital requirement of her enterprise and purchase small tools for food processing. Through Rajeevika, she came to know about the Seed Capital support provided to Self Help Group members under the PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme for working capital and the purchase of small tools. With the support of Rajeevika, she received a Seed Capital amount of Rs.40,000 under the PMFME Scheme. With the amount, she purchased raw material and a Masala Chakki (Spice Grinding Machine).
After the installation of the machinery, the per day production capacity of the enterprise increased from 5 kg to 15 kg. The increase witnessed in the production capacity also resulted in an increment in the daily profit generation of the enterprise from Rs. 150 to Rs. 450. The Seed Capital amount is also being utilized by Ms. Nikku Kanwar to meet the working capital requirement of the enterprise.
The products are being marketed via local vendors within the village and nearby blocks in Chittorgarh. The products have also been marketed via the State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) Fair organized in the district. The SHG is marketing the spices under their brand “Aravalli Spices”. The financial turnover of Bhavya Masala Unit for FY 2021-22 was approximately Rs.1,55,000.
